TPVD CrN

TPVD CrN Coating

Tanury's CrN is a wear resistant chromium nitride (CrN) coating produced with the proprietary cathodic arc physical vapor deposition (PVD) process.

The greater coating thickness of TPVD CrN provides superior performance and toughness over other PVD and CVD coatings in wear applications. It has better corrosion resistance than TiN, especially in aqueous solutions. The CrN coating can be used as a direct substitute for other surface enhancement techniques, such as chromium plating, ion nitriding, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and the thermal diffusion process. TPVD CrN is twice as hard as conventional hard chrome plating. The high hardness, low coefficient of friction and low residual stress levels of the TPVD CrN coating combine to resist abrasive wear, metal-on-metal wear, and galling.
